McCutcheon's Is Not Just Apples.

If you live in Frederick, you should know McCutcheon's,
located at 13 South Wisner Street, Frederick, Maryland.
I met Lynn, a couple of weeks ago, when she helped me with my purchase.
She is one of the 16 family members that work in the family business,
that started with William O. McCutcheon, in 1938.
He and his son began custom pressing apples for the local farmers.
Now, they have jams, jellies, butters, honey,
canned veggies and fruit, BBQ sauces, and much more.
Yes, they still have apples, in many forms.

This is Liz.

I had to stop at Liz's home and knock on her door. Why?
Her PUMPKINS
What a lovely sight to drive down 7th Street and see pumpkins in her front lawn.

The Monday Easy Recovery Ride

I stumbled upon these good looking guys at Starbucks on 7th Street.
They call themselves the Monday Easy Recovery Ride Group.
On the weekends they ride about 100+ miles, whereas on Mondays they only ride about 30 miles.
They also call this the Starbucks ride.

We are going Solar!

Part of Wyatt Thorpes territory is Frederick. He works for SolarCity.
He is very educated in solar energy.
He is a pleasure to talk to and answers all the questions in comprehensible english.
I have researched solar energy,
and have heard very good things about SolarCity.
If all their employees are like Wyatt, I can understand why all the recommendations are good.
It is a pleasure to have him help us get solar energy.

Goodloe Byron & Pugloe

I had the pleasure of meeting Goodloe Byron, in his studio.
My friend, Shawn, brought me with her to pick up a watercolor she had commissioned for me.
I loved his work space. So bright with light and his work all around.
Everywhere I turned, there was an oil canvas or a pile of watercolors.
I had such a joyful visit, and of course I also met Pugloe.

The Band and a Drummer

Always Astonished & Pugloe.
By the way, The Band and a Drummer is the watercolor done for me. I love flamingos, and my husband is a drummer. So fun!

This is a great story by Lauren LaRocca, in The Frederick News Post from May 10, 2012, about Goodloe Byron.    Frederick News Post article

Harriet Johnston Arthur

I reached into my photo collection for todays post.
This is Harriet Johnston Arthur.
She was known to many as the docent at the Barbara Fritchie House.
She greeted everyone with a smile, and knew her stuff about Barbara Fritchie.
I once saw her slip on a costume and cap, and lean out an upstairs window,
portraying Barbara Fritchie, as tourists took her photo.
Some days, as she waited for people to visit her,
I would find her biding her time painting.
She would display and sell her beautiful watercolors.
She was truly a beautiful person, and I miss her.

What can brown do for you?

What can brown do for you? Deliver parcels with a smile.
This is Phillip. For many years, he delivered a route downtown Frederick.
Now he has a route in the northern part of the city, around North East Street.
I have known Phillip for many years,
as we used to deliver to some of the same homes and businesses.
Now, he delivers to my home.
