WOW! What a night at the Weinberg Center.

Tonight's headliner was Diamond Rio, and what a wonderful show it was.

Before you see the main event, you will see many volunteers
to help make your visit at the Weinberg Center enjoyable.
Tonight, the Spirit Elf, John Lee, was at the bar to satisfy your beverage needs.

Santa and Mrs Claus were in the house.
Diamond Rio even stopped their show
to get a group photo with Santa and Mrs Claus.
I was stationed in the balcony, so my photo was not very good to share.

During the show, Diamond Rio invited their friend Tim Ferris on stage.
Tim is from Cumberland Maryland.
He worked for them 25 years ago, when they were just getting started.
Tim asked his friend Tiffany on stage,
got down on one knee, and proposed marriage.
I asked her if she knew about the proposal ahead of time.
She said it was a complete surprise.

After the show, Diamond Rio signed autographs. In line was Chris Kennedy from WFRE's Team WFRE. He collects the signatures on the Epiphone Guitar for WFRE to raffle off for a St Jude donation.

WFRE is once again sending a team to Nashville for the St Jude Country Music Marathon and Half Marathon on April 27th.Each team member is walking in support of children battling cancer and other deadly diseases at St Jude Children's Research Hospital. St Jude helps kids across the USA.

I normally don't put my photo on this blog,
but I have followed Diamond Rio from their start,
and had the opportunity to get a photo with them,
and with Santa.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Andrew & Rachel

This is Andrew & Rachel.
I met them on West Patrick Street,
admiring the interior of one of the buildings.
They have lived in Frederick just a few years,
and have felt very welcomed by the Frederick community.
Frederick feels like home.
Frederick is home.

OUR HOSPITALITY at the Weinberg Center

Have you ever gone to the Weinberg center for a movie?
If you do, you may see Rick, one of many volunteers.
He is a retiree from Bechtel, where he was an editor.
For the viewing of  OUR HOSPITALITY, he made the popcorn.

Meta & Mike Nash were two of the movie patrons.
Meta knows someone who's father worked on OUR HOSPITALITY,
and they decided to come see the movie.

Turkey Day

The Tuesday before Thanksgiving is always a big day
for those less fortunate in Frederick.
It is the day the Food Bank, operated by the Community Action Agency,
distributes 1000 turkeys with all the fixings.
Wegmans donated the turkeys, and many volunteers packed the grocery bags
with a turkey, boxed stuffing and mashed potatoes,
canned veggies, cranberries, and gravy, and dinner rolls.
Thank you to all the volunteers who put in their time to help others.
Thank you to the staff of Independent Hose who
brought out their canteen truck and distributed hot chocolate,
which helped keep the chill off, on a chilly morning.

Sky High Job

Yesterday, I heard banging from my backyard.
I looked around and saw a man on our neighbors roof.
I grabbed my camera and took his photo.
I went over to introduce myself, and found Jerry.
He was repairing the roof for Jeff and James Clark.
Not a job that I would want to do.
Stay safe Jerry.

Boy Scout Food Drive

Last Saturday morning, I found this bag hanging from my front door knob.
Then I found several Cub and Boy Scouts were delivering these bags, for their
One Million Pounds of Food
food drive, for Saturday November 12th
Please fill yours with non-perishable food, and leave at your front door November 12th.
The Scouts will pick them up and
make sure the food gets to our local food bank.

Aleister and his father, Dameon.

Let's skip the house with the loose dogs.

Have you been stuck in traffic in downtown Frederick?

It's the middle of the day, and traffic is one lane on Market street.
Why? Why is that DPW truck blocking one lane? What's going on?

Well, I'll tell you.

It's that time of year when you will find either David, or Charlie,
high above the streets of Frederick, putting up the holiday lights.
On this day, David is in the bucket.

But, it is only September, you may ask.
There are a lot of trees on the streets of Frederick,
and it takes a lot of time to put up those lights to make our city pretty
for the holiday season.

Thank you David and Charlie, for all you do to put Frederick in a festive mood!

Paradise...

... in Frederick, with some delicious beef, buns, ice cream, salads, subs,
hot dogs, buffalo wings, and more.  All delicious!
Beef 'N Buns 'N Paradise is owned by Vickie and Rod Sipes, since 2005.
This is the oldest family owned and operated carry out, of its kind, in Frederick.
With its tropical decor and nostalgic neon sign,
you may feel like you are in Ocean City, instead of Frederick.

Flowers Abound Carla...

... as she helps to keep them beautiful.
If you see her at En Masse, stop in to say hello.

Fishcake

Mr. Fisher is a Master Barber
at Nimaja's Hair Studio, 932 North East Street.
He is one of the best barbers in Frederick,
though you may know him as Fishcake.
Fishcake is the name a grade school friend gave him, and it stuck.
If you call him by his given name, he may not answer,
or even realize you are talking to him.

Fishcake is available for business on Friday & Saturday,
10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Thank you DPW, for all you do.

Gary & Charles, from the Department of Public Works,
were in Monocacy Village, today.
They were clearing up some of what is left of Blizzard 2016,
before the next snow storm comes our way.
They were clearing the storm drains and driving lanes.

Shuckin' Shack Oyster Bar

This is Wade Newman.
He, and his friend Eric Weller,
brought a touch of the Carolinas to Frederick
when they opened the Shuckin' Shack Oyster Bar.
They wanted a place to have fun, watch sports, and eat good food.

Wade Newman, co-owner
The Shuckin' Shack started in Carolina Beach, NC in 2007,
and now has six franchise locations in the Carolinas,
and one in Frederick, MD.
Victoria, greeted us with a smile. She was a great waitress.
The atmosphere was cozy. There were many TV's for watching sports.
The food was good and prices were reasonable.

The oysters and lobster roll were delicious.
Can't wait to try a steampot.
It's nice to have a seafood restaurant back downtown.
